When working with employees who have been involved with many successful events, chances are if you’ve done an event of a similar kind the more likely it is to be successful. But where does it leave us eager post grads? To become employable, we need experience, and to gain that experience we need experience… it’s a vicious circle.
I started my summer internship here at Warwick Events, as part of a module that’s included within my second year. I came into the office having some text book knowledge of the events world, but looking back now I really knew nothing at all. Lectures and seminars can give you the facts about the industry, but it’s a whole other story living the live event. Hours of planning and researching, networking with local suppliers and clients is only one side of it.
Without being given the opportunity to experience the industry first hand, I think I would still be that novice student who doesn’t fully understand the work and months of planning that goes into events. However now, with a summer’s experience being involved in the industry, I feel more than ready to learn even more about the ever changing industry and graduate in 2 years’ time. As Warwick Events always say: ‘’experience is everything’’.
